Bishop David L. Ricken was installed as the twelfth bishop of the Diocese of Green Bay on Aug. 28, 2008, at St. Francis Xavier Cathedral. During his tenure as bishop in Green Bay, Bishop Ricken officially approved the Marian apparitions that took place at the Shrine of Our Lady of Good Help in Champion on October 1859 when the Blessed Virgin Mary appeared on three occasions to Adele Brise, a young Belgian immigrant. In addition to his duties as bishop in Green Bay, Bishop Ricken also served as Chairman of the USCCB’s Committee on Evangelization and Catechesis.
